BGP Standard Community

A standard BGP community is defined by a 32-bit number and typically represented as two 16-bit numbers in the format AA:NN (Autonomous System:Network Number).

A community can be included with a route within the BGP update. A community is actually an optional transitive attribute. This means it can be passed between autonomous systems and routers that don't recognize it will still pass it along to other BGP peers

The term "standard" simply refers to the format of the field within the BGP message that contains this community number. This is in contrast to a extended BGP community format.
