EtherChannel - applying configurations to the interface
Whenever using EtherChannel, any and all configurations should be applied to the port channel interface, and not to the physical interfaces belonging to the group. When this is done, those configurations applied to the port channel are automatically copied and applied to the physical interfaces within the group. There are a few exceptions to this including the configuration of an IP address in the case of a Layer 3 EtherChannel.
The only time a configuration should be applied directly to a physical interface that is a member of a port channel is when configuring Unidirectional Link Detection (UDLD) which is a feature that complements Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) . More info on this can be found at STP configuring on EtherChannel
