Frame-Relay - emulating a Frame-Relay switch

When creating labs and topologies to test the use of Frame-Relay, the use of a Frame-Relay switch is necessary. A Frame-Relay switch can be emulated within simulators and emulators such as GNS3, Cisco's Packet Tracer, and EVE-NG.

For Cisco Packet Tracer, the device called PT-Cloud can be used and can be found under the devices icon, and under the cloud sub-icon as shown below.

For GNS3, the Frame Relay switch can be found under the All devices category as shown below: gns3-frame-relay-switch.png

You can also configure a Cisco router to play the role of a Frame Relay switch, as long as the router platform and IOS support this feature.
