LLQ Queue Starvation Prevention in Modern Cisco Devices
Modern networking devices manage bandwidth allocation and queue starvation effectively, even without explicit policing configurations. When reserving bandwidth for VoIP traffic for example, it is often assumed that limiting it would prevent starvation of other queues. However, with Low Latency Queuing (LLQ), this concern is mitigated on newer devices, which handle bandwidth distribution dynamically. Ensuring adequate bandwidth for VoIP does not necessarily equate to fewer resources for other traffic types, thanks to enhancements in network traffic management.
