MetroEthernet - Virtual Private Wire Service
Virtual Private Wire Service is a MetroEthernet service that is ideal if you have a lot of sites and you want each site to be able to send frames directly to any other site. It is also known as Ethernet LAN Service or E-LAN. Metro Ethernet is a type of Wide Area Network service that leverages Ethernet as its transmission protocol.
It’s a full-mesh topology that acts like a big switch. Conversely, the simplest Metro Ethernet service known as VPLS is a point-to-point connection between two sites.
