MPLS - Ethernet over MPLS (EoMPLS)

Ethernet over MPLS or EoMPLS is a type of MPLS Layer 2 VPN that is used specifically to transport Ethernet frames over an MPLS infrastructure.

In a typical EoMPLS setup, Ethernet frames are encapsulated into MPLS packets at the edge of an MPLS network. These packets are then transported across the MPLS network using label switching. At the receiving end, the process is reversed, and the original Ethernet frames are extracted and delivered.

This technology is widely used in enterprise and service provider networks to extend Ethernet services over wider areas and to interconnect data centers, branch offices, and other network sites with high efficiency and reliability.
