
Traditional [MPLS](/mpls) L3 [VPN](/vpn) architecture requires that each VPN instance exclusively use a single CE to connect with a PE.  The multi-[VRF](/vrf) CE feature allows a single CE device to terminate multiple VPNs enabling multiple customers to share the same physical link between the PE and CE.  Similarly, it also better serves private networks that may be divided into multiple VPNs to isolate internal services.
