Multicast Anycast RP and MSDP in Multi Site Environment

Anycast RP, combined with Multicast Source Discovery Protocol (MSDP), enables efficient multicast routing in multi-site environments by allowing the same Rendezvous Point (RP) address to be used at different locations. This configuration ensures that multicast traffic is optimally routed to the RP closest to the source, enhancing performance and reliability in a network.

When multicast traffic traverses external domains (between autonomous systems), your ISP has to support this. MSDP between Anycast RPs is used to share source information between Anycast RPs.
