Serial - Link between two routers
When connecting two routers to each other via a serial link, one side of the link must be defined as the DTE and the other side as the DCE
For such a link to function correctly
- The DCE side must be configured with the clock rate since it is th device that generates the clocking signal for synchronization.
- The DTE side must not have the clock rate set, but must have the
no keepalives
command set in order to avoid the device sending any synchronization requests that may cause the link to fail.
