VTP - Per interface configuration

VTP is a protocol that is applied globally on a switch. VTPv3 allows for the enabling and disabling of the operation of the protocol on a per interface basis.

It is possible to disable VTP operation on an interface by issuing the no vtp interface command. This would result in all incoming and outgoing VTP messages being blocked on that interface.

Such a configuration is useful for special cases where particular interfaces are to be excluded from participating in VTP. However, best practice dictates that if VTP is not to be used at all on a particular switch, it should be put into transparent mode.
