VXLAN Static Ingress Replication
Static ingress replication in VXLAN is a method used for multicast traffic replication when a multicast-enabled network is unavailable or not preferred. Instead of relying on multicast groups, each VXLAN Tunnel Endpoint (VTEP) is manually configured with a list of peer VTEPs that should receive replicated packets. When a VTEP receives multicast traffic, it replicates the packets and unicasts them to all the specified peers. This approach simplifies deployment in environments where multicast support is limited but can increase overhead due to the manual configuration and additional unicast traffic. Static ingress replication is often used in smaller or tightly controlled environments where scalability is less of a concern.
