Network - Transient traffic
Transient traffic is traffic that passes through a router, switch, firewall or other network device, but does not originate from or is not destined for the router itself. This is in contrast to locally generated traffic, or locally destined traffic, which either originates or is destined for the network device itself.
Transient traffic is most often associated with user traffic which operates on the data plane, while locally generated or locally destined traffic is associated with the control plane.
