Switchport access
An access port is a port on a switch that is configured to carry traffic from single VLAN, and is typically implemented within the framework of an Ethernet network. The access port by default is assigned VLAN 1, but can be changed using the switchport access vlan
command.
This is in contrast to a trunk port which can carry multiple VLANs. Some additional concepts involved with access ports can be found at the following notes:
